The Caribou lawsuit is NOT over!

Published on 2/2/2007

Urgent!!!!

The Caribou lawsuit is NOT over! The January’s Federal Court ruling to reopen the Priest Lake Groomed Trail system is still a temporary court order. The USFS will be working diligently on a caribou habitat plan in the coming months. BUT, the ongoing effort by Selkirk Conservation Alliance to close the forest continues!!!

Here is a quote from Mark Sprengel, Director, Selkirk Conservation Alliance in the Spokesman Review, Sunday, December 17, 2006:

“If they think Caribou are a problem, wolverines are really going to throw a monkey wrench into their plans!”

This quote is the essence of the strategy of the extremists to “lock up and lock out” the forests to recreational snowmobiling. They will persist using the legal system to obstruct public use of public lands!

It is critical, right now, today, to raise money for the legal defense fund to fight against this attack on use of the forest for recreation purposes. We can help the caribou recover, but the effort must be tempered with reason and prudence.

Contribute today to the Idaho State Snowmobile Association’s tax deductible 501 c(3) Legal Defense fund to help keep our forests open for public use!
